Catching Up

So let's see...what's been going on around here since Tuesday? Wednesday, the boys and I took a trip to Tacoma to meet some of my 'imaginary friends' that I've met on the Sonlight Homeschool Forums. It was so fun to meet the ladies that I've been conversing with over the past month. They were very sweet, and the boys met new buddies, too.

Thursday we met some other moms and kids from our church at a local park. While we were there, Tommy called and told us they are planning to get a puppy! The boys and I decided we're going to send them a box of milkbones to help celebrate.

Friday, my very pregnant friend Lauren emailed me and said, "I'm bored. Can you come over and play?" So we picked her up and brought her over for a fun evening of fellowship. Her husband and Patrick joined us after work, and we had a pizza and movie night. Her due date is tomorrow, so hopefully little Caleb will join us this coming week.

Saturday, some friends from church who have a pool invited us and another family over to swim and cook out. It was too chilly for the adults to swim, but that didn't stop the kids. Neither did the rain that drizzled on them for part of the evening. They had a blast.

And today has been a nice, relaxing day. After church, Patrick fit in a nap while I played Uno and Skip-bo with Matthew. Joshua entertained himself by drawing Pokemon characters. This evening, we plan to watch the movie "Holes" but first I have to drag Patrick away from the football game. :)

Well, you all have been nicely busy. Saturday was Sarah's visit and then I fixed supper for Susan, Bill and Mom that same evening. Today was Homecoming at church and Daddy wanted to get in on the good eats. I found some Tyson chicken in the freezer that just needed to be heated and a package of Knorr's Cheesy veg rice and fixed that so we pigged out and had a nice time. Then, Carol Plummer and I went to see "Stardust". I loved it! It is a cross between Pirates of the Caribbean and one of Grimm's fairy tales. Rated PG. Robert De Niro played a "pirate captain of an air ship that fishes for lightening. He is not a main character but is really funny. I don't know if the boys would like it or even Patrick but if you loved fairy tales as a kid you'll love this.
I finally found the picture of you and your "imaginary" friends. Looks like a nice bunch of ladies and I also saw your thread. I'll check it out tomorrow and see if you have any hits.
I can't wait to see what you thought of the movie. And...a puppy? Do they know a puppy is a lot like a baby? Oh, my...

I didn't know they decided on a puppy either! I may have to send a little cutsie outfit since you've got the milkbones covered- good idea!

It sounds like you guys have been lots of relaxing fun. Are you starting school soon? The kids start this Wednesday in our town... crazy!

I don't think I've heard of Holes- was it good? I hadn't heard of Stardust either... I guess I'm really out of the loop! I did watch The Illusionist last night and was severely disappointed. The Prestige is much, much better!

I've been coupon cutting away, dead set on becoming a "coupon mom." You should check out the site, Angel- she's got some really good ideas. So far I've gotten a free tube of toothpaste and lots of other things for mere cents with my new coupon skills! : ) haha

I also discovered gdiapers (www.gdiapers.com) and LOVE them. I would totally be using them, but they're more expensive than disposables. Maybe they'll eventually come down in price. I am thinking about doing cloth with liners when Gideon finishes up all the disposables that were given to us. We'll see...

Well I should have just sent an email! Love you.

We have done the prologue, the testimony of John the Baptist, the disciples, and are now looking at the signs.Next will be the teachings and interactions of Jesus in context of the feasts and then the "I AM" sayings. Finally, we'll talk about chapters 13-20 - The end of His earthly ministry and The Glory of the Cross.
So far it has gone really well. There has been good discussion anyway.
